BCT - Boston area College Tour

BCT provides free STEM-focused tours for talented high school students, preferably rising 10th & 11th graders, that help students determine fit with universities like MIT and Harvard. Guided tours will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 while self-guided tours are recommended for Saturday, July 11, 2026. Guided tours have yet to be determined for Northeastern University and Boston University.

BCT 2026 will coincide with the 13th annual Boston JerkFest food and music festival at the Harvard University athletic fields adjacent to Harvard Business School and Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The tours are free but have limited capacity and require online pre-registration. Registration links for each university will be posted below when tour details are finalized. For each tour, all members in your party need to individually register with a parent/guardian registering first.

MIT Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 9am-12:15pm

MIT Welcome Center, 292 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142

MIT’s mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.

The MIT tour for high school students and their parents features a 30-minute information session followed by a 1-hour campus tour. For the remaining 90 minutes, high school students are engaged in a hands-on activity such as at the Maker Lodge or Edgerton Center. Meanwhile, parents leisurely tour the MIT Museum with waived admission fees.

From 12:30pm to 1:15pm there will be an optional lunch & talk opportunity for tour participants to informally mingle with and ask questions of MIT alumni and current students. Tour participants can purchase bag lunches from nearby recommended restaurants and then gather at the outdoor area adjacent to the MIT Welcome Center for the lunch & talk.

Harvard College Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 2pm-4pm

Harvard College Admissions Visitor Center at 5 James Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, in the Elizabeth Cary Agassiz House.

Harvard College’s mission is to educate the citizens and citizen-leaders for our society. We do this through our commitment to the transformative power of a liberal arts and sciences education.

For the 45-minute information session, an admissions staff member will be joined by two students concentrating in STEM disciplines at Harvard College. They will cover STEM-specific information on Harvard’s resources, including Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the information session will close with a walk through admissions and financial aid.

The 1-hour campus tour will lead from the Radcliffe Institute to locations in Harvard Yard, and from there to the Science Center Plaza (1 Oxford Street, Cambridge), where guides will speak on specific information on the academic experience and resources available according to their program and the interests of the group.
