BCT - Boston area College Tour
BCT provides free STEM-focused tours for talented high school students, preferably current 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th graders, that help students determine fit with universities like MIT, Northeastern, Boston University, Tufts, and Harvard. The free guided tours will take place on Thursday and Friday, July 8-9, 2027 while self-guided tours are recommended for Saturday, July 10, 2027. Registration for the guided tours are accessed through this application link. BCT 2027 experience will be enhanced by optional dorm housing at MIT for students and parents available for up to 4 nights (Wednesday through Saturday nights). Details are in this APPLICATION LINK.
BCT 2027 will coincide with the 14th annual Boston JerkFest food and music festival at the Harvard University athletic fields adjacent to Harvard Business School and Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Last year’s BCT had 45 students, parents, and guardians traveling mostly from NYC area. Since February 24, 2026, BCT has been a charitable program sponsored by United Charitable a 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1) charity (EIN 20-4286082). All donations to this program are tax deductible and can be made payable to Boston area College Tour. By 2027, BCT plans to source students from overnight trip markets as far away as Los Angeles and increase the number of high school students served from 25 to 100 per year.
The tours are free but have limited capacity and require online registration. The current 9th, 10th or 11th grade student should have a grade point average (GPA) 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the current or last school year. Registration links for each university will be posted in the BCT application when tour details are finalized. The MIT and Harvard tours are open for registration. For each tour, all members in your party need to individually register with a parent/guardian registering first.

Campus visits consist of a 45-minute information session by an admissions officer directly followed by a 70-minute campus tour led by current students. Consider the 9:15am-11:10am tour if you want a longer break before the 2pm-3:30pm Northeastern University Tour. Subway travel time from Tufts to Northeastern is about 40 minutes.
Tufts is a student-centered major research university. The School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering share the Medford/Somerville campus 5 miles north of Boston. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts is located on the Fenway campus on the Avenue of the Arts in downtown Boston.
Tufts Engineering features a project-based and collaborative engineering education, socially conscious engineering, and research in an intimate environment.

Our program features a 30-minute information session led by an admissions counselor and of our student ambassadors, followed by an hour-long tour that will feature several of our STEM facilities, such as our Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) and EXP, our premiere science and technology research facility with 15,000 square feet robotics maker space and a multitude of areas for dedicated STEM research.

MIT Welcome Center, 292 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142. Entry for our group begins at 9:45am at the MIT Welcome Center.
MIT’s mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.
The MIT tour for high school students and their parents features a 1-hour campus tour starting at 10am. For the remaining 90 minutes, high school students are engaged in a hands-on activity or specialized tours such as the Maker Lodge, Edgerton Center, or MIT Nano. During this 90-minute period, parents and others can visit the MIT Museum, hang out in the Welcome Center lobby, and/or get lunch for their students.
From 12:30pm to 1:15pm there will be an optional lunch & talk opportunity for tour participants to informally mingle with and ask questions of MIT alumni and current students. Tour participants can purchase bag lunches from nearby recommended restaurants and then gather at the outdoor area adjacent to the MIT Welcome Center for the lunch & talk.

Harvard College’s mission is to educate the citizens and citizen-leaders for our society. We do this through our commitment to the transformative power of a liberal arts and sciences education.
For the 45-minute information session, an admissions staff member will be joined by two students concentrating in STEM disciplines at Harvard College. They will cover STEM-specific information on Harvard’s resources, including Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the information session will close with a walk through admissions and financial aid.
The 1-hour campus tour will lead from the Radcliffe Institute to locations in Harvard Yard, and from there to the Science Center Plaza (1 Oxford Street, Cambridge), where guides will speak on specific information on the academic experience and resources available according to their program and the interests of the group.
